God dammit, why is Shizuo so f-ing COOOOOOOL!!!!????
Celty finally finds where her head has been this whole time. Of course, we knew for quite a while, but the gears on this story are finally starting to turn. We also find out how the Yagiri family came into possession of Celty’s head and what happened to Harima Mika (and I thought Seiji was messed up even before this episode, holy shit). Mikado also jumps in all the fun and may finally start to have some sort of meaningful role in all of this.

Seiji and Celty’s head (let’s just call her Celty-Mika for now) are out doing their usual business. Celty-Mika gets jealous of Namie always talking to Seiji on his cell that she disposes of the phone in the nearby fountain. Because of this Namie tries to search for Seiji thinking that something has happened to him. Namie even tries to get Izaya to help but gains nothing but snide remarks from him. It also appears that Izaya might be communicating with Celty-Mika through text-messages warning her of people pursuing her.

Namie’s uncle was apparently responsible for smuggling Celty’s head into Japan. While Namie and her uncle were the only ones who knew about this, Namie eventually showed it to Seiji whom immediately fell in love with it. Later on, Seiji is found to have murdered Harima Mika after she discovered the head while Seiji was keeping it in his room. Namie took Mika’s body and attached Celty’s head to it somehow and the rest is history.

Back in present time, Celty notices Celty-Mika (geez this is going to get confusing) run past her. After she realizes that it’s her missing head, she chases after her but only for Celty-Mika to start screaming uncontrollably. Shizuo tries to calm down the situation (how ironic) but Seiji comes in and starts stabbing Shizuo with pens and pencils (yeah… pens). Celty-Mika runs off and Celty chases after her while Shizuo deals with that Seiji brat. Celty-Mika bumps into Mikado and Mikado “rescues” her from the pursuing Celty.

“I’ve always wanted to say this… Leave this to me. You go on ahead!” – Jesus, I love this show so much.
First of all, I’d like to say that I felt extreme joy when Shizuo chucked Seiji like a rag doll into that truck. I only wish he roughed him up a little more. But seriously, fighting with pens Seiji? At least aim for some vital points if you’re fighting against Shizuo… actually that might just make him more mad.

So Seiji really does have a head fetish since he was apparently in love with Celty’s head before it was even attached to a body. But gawd is he creepy as hell. I’m not sure if eating cup ramen is a way of coping with the stress of killing someone or if he simply does not care about anyone but himself and Celty’s head (not Celty-Mika since I doubt he even cares about the lower “half” . Also, our suspicions of Namie having a incestuous obsession for her little brother seems to be true. She’s even willing to kill off the one thing he loves just to get him back. Of course, it doesn’t seem that the feeling is mutual with Seiji. I’m starting to even think that their whole family is screwed up though I’m not sure how unordinary brother-complexes are with the shows this season (Baka to Test ep. 9, Dance in the Vampire Bund ep. 8*).
*I realize that Nanami and Yuzuru are not really brother and sister but it still bothers me.

I wonder if Celty-Mika’s love for Seiji stems from having Mika’s body or if the feelings are really from Celty’s head. I couldn’t imagine why she would even like the guy other than the fact that she probably could not remember anything but him. Speaking of which, I wonder why she doesn’t even remember anything. Could it be all of the experimentation? or could it be from getting attached to another body? Ah the more we learn, the more questions we will have…

Izaya as one of the chatters confirmed.
So Izaya is communicating with Celty-Mika. What this could mean and how it will affect things to come is still a large mystery. What is he trying to accomplish with Celty-Mika? Could he have foreseen Mikado’s involvement in this as well? Izaya you’re such a crafty bastard, but your maniacal laughter sure does give me the creeps (not as much as Seiji’s love mania though).

Please excuse the Megas XLR reference and the terribad CSI: Miami comic spoof.
So the apparent theme of this episode is things that are lost and found. Anri lost her shoes, Erika lost her partner in crime and Celty lost her head… wait we already knew that last one.
We’re also treated to some revelations in the story, most of which were speculated by some of the commenter and myself earlier in the series.

It’s Celty’s day off and she’s cookin’ for Shinra. Although Shinra is deeply moved by this gesture, Celty’s lack of taste brings him to tears. Celty realizes that Shinra is forcing himself to eat her cooking and storms out after preventing him from eating anymore. While Celty is gone, Shinra is called to “fix-up” a kid who attempted a terrorist attack on Yagiri Pharmacy. We then learn that Shinra has been keeping some of his own secrets…

Elsewhere, Mikado and Kida help Anri look for her missing shoes (most likely from an act of bullying). Anri gives up after a short while but Mikado continues to search for them. Mikado eventually finds the shoes and brings them back to Anri at her home, but while Mikado was probably expecting a much more enthusiastic response, Anri simply says “thanks” and sends him off.

After Shinra’s job at Yagiri Pharmacy was done, he meets up with Celty and they go out to eat “sushi” at the Russian sushi shop. There they get fortune cookies with messages that conveniently describe their situation.

And as a closing to this fine episode, we see Seiji and his lover. The big bomb dropped here when Seiji casually calls the girl “Celty” which further proves that the head on the girl belongs to our favorite headless rider. Not only this, but we finally catch a glance at what Celty’s head really looks like in one of her dreams.

Poor Shinra, even the cookies are telling him it’s useless.
So it seems that Shinra knows more than he’s letting on. With the hints that were presented in this episode, it seems that Shinra possibly knows what has happened with Celty’s head. This would explain why he’s so intent on telling Celty that she’s better off without her head. Whether this is something Shinra truly wants or if it’s just that he’s being pressured to keep the secrets he knows hidden is still something to ponder.

If connections is what Mikado wants then the Dollars might be able to accomodate that…
I’m still having a hard time thinking of what Mikado’s role in this entire story might be. Everyone keeps hinting that Mikado will have some major role in the future and since he’s the main character, I would not doubt it. It seems that Mikado wants connections or relationships according to his little message that he left. I’m not sure if this is just referring to Anri or if it just means that he wants to meet lots of people. If the latter is true, his involvement with the Dollars looks like it’s going to true pretty soon. I do feel bad for Mikado though getting shut down by Anri. =\

So Seiji is in love with Celty’s head and not Harima nor Celty’s other “half”. We still don’t know how Seiji knows her name or how deep his connection with this whole scandal is, but one thing I know is that Seiji is creepy as hell. He almost sounds like a guy who would chop up different women and sew them together to get the perfect girlfriend. Ugh.

Probably the best scene of the episode.
Happy Lunar New Year to you all (and Valentine’s Day but screw that commercial holiday! …I’m not bitter… not at all. >.>).
This episode clears up a lot of the mysteries present in the previous episodes. We get a glimpse of who the Dollars are, who the hell “Dotachin” is and who those three kidnappers were and how they’re related to Namie Yagiri (the female doctor). However, despite the negative connotations the Dollars had before this episode, we see something much less threatening and rather humorous in a sense.

Kadota, a.k.a. Dotachin, ans his buddies are all apparently part of a mysterious organization called the Dollars. They are a loosely knit group with none of the members knowing who the leader actually is. However, it is speculated that the leader is none other than Izaya Orihara himself. What the purpose of the Dollars is still unknown even to it’s members since there are no rules or restrictions. The members must simply state that they’re part of the Dollars.

We start off with Togusa, Kadota, Karisawa, and Yumasaki involved in a car chase with the three kidnappers from the first episode. It turns out that the kidnappers work for a medical company by delivering them humans for experimentation. This company, Yagiri Pharmacy, is where Seiji’s sister, Namie, works… hence the name. What is involved with the human experimentation is yet to be revealed however.

This all came together when the kidnappers took Kaztano, a friend of our four heroes and especially Togusa. The group eventually find the kidnappers and save Kaztano from being a human experiment and find out the location of Yagiri Pharmacy. Not much else happens in this episode, but at least some light has been shed on who everyone is exactly.

Geez there girls are everywhere, aren’t they?

Celty is really into aliens…

These two always seemed kind of quirky but I didn’t expect them to be a bit sadistic. Of course, they could just be joking… I hope.

Looks kind of like Haruhi…

Overall, a great episode. I had some laughs with all of the Dollars’ antics and Shizuo randomly throwing crap out of no where. And like I’ve said before, it’s finally nice to get some information out of this show even though a lot of it could have been speculated from previous episodes. It seems like next episode we learn more about Shizuo and his past with Izaya. Can’t wait for more vending machine action!

At the time of this writing, Shokkeru was very hungry with all the images of sushi…
